Jamii North ACSM PT, FRCms, FRA, USAT L1

Jamii is originally from Western NY, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (and minoring in Sports Medicine and Computer Science) from SUNY Brockport. After spending a year working with local high school sports teams and an Arena Football team, she then moved to California to get her Masters at San Jose State University in Kinesiology, completing all coursework short of writing her thesis.

Starting out in the rehabilitation side of things at a PT clinic in Portola Valley, she became the top Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC), including training the newer ATC’s. After a severe back injury ended her team sporting career, she tried cycling as a way to stay active, and quickly fell in love, jumping right into both racing and wrenching. It didn’t take Jamii long to understand the real need for a proper bike fit, and soon was doing them herself at the clinic.

Since 2010 she has been running her own fitness training and endurance sport coaching business. Over the years on her own she has attended many conferences but has really come to focus on her (Functional Range Conditioning®) FRC® techniques and the learnings from Dr. Stacy Sims on women’s specific physiology and how best to train women according to their cycles and age.

In her free time she loves photography, exploring new food, trying new beers/hard ciders, playing with her Whippet mix, and One Wheeling on the beach with her wife. She currently participates in duathlons and long distance trail running at a competitive level.

Mark is a residency-trained manual physical therapist. Graduating from Georgia State University in 1997, Mark also completed a year of Residency in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT), and earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, through the Ola Grimsby Institute in 2006. And in 2015, he became certified in Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art. An avid (and occasionally injured) amateur musician and recreational runner, Mark enjoys working with clients who are passionate about their activities, whether vocational, athletic, or recreational. He believes physical therapy should be a process of self-discovery for each client, empowering them to understand their functional challenges and to help them access the tools they need to find a path to genuine healing.

He is also a longtime yoga practitioner, and began teaching yoga in 2002. He has attended a month-long course of advanced classes at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, India, and also observed the institute’s therapeutic medical classes. When appropriate, Mark incorporates yoga postures, breathing and concentration practices into PT treatment.

Mark brings deep knowledge of neuro-musculoskeletal science, along with an artful, eclectic mix of manual therapy skills and an attentive presence, to each client session. He considers manual therapy to be an educational process, using informed touch to facilitate efficient movement, which is the basis of all healing and growth.
